What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient and powerful form of hands-on-healing. This energy flows through all life and follows the energy pathways of the body, known in Eastern medicine as the meridians and chakras.

Reiki accelerates the healing process which has been scientifically documented by Stanford University. It also helps reduce stress usually within minutes and has an analgesic effect helping to reduce pain.  It is empowering and nurturing, and opens the heart.

Human Development
Reiki is, however, much more than a healing art. It is also an extremely powerful catalyst for human development and transformation. It connects the initiate with their innate power that opens them to a journey unfolding the potential within.  Reiki can thus be brought into any area of one’s life.

Reiki teaches the practitioner to be a channel, in a state of meditation, and opens one to a process of letting go of ego. It brings in the quality of unconditional love for self and others, as well as develops qualities such as patience, detachment, authenticity, acceptance, compassion, trust and forgiveness…

Equine (Horse) Reiki
In developing such qualities, Reiki is a powerful gift to create an incredibly deep bond with our equine and animal friends.  Its ability to bring about the awareness of subtle energies and sensitivity is a doorway to enhance communication and understanding within our interactions with our horse (or pet).  In fact, the journey can be so profound that we have the hidden ability to communicate at the soul level – with one of my Reiki III correspondence students this is a response to the experiences she was having at this level

 “We are moving into a deepening time of truly connecting spiritually with our animal friends and moving into the sacredness of the connection between us so that this communication deepens into a conscious spiritual existence.”

To live at this level creates an extraordinary reality and which Reiki has the incredible ability to unlock.

Equine (Horse) Healing & Consciousness
The sensitivity that is developed through this process gives the ability to feel the energy at the physical level, within the auric field, and for some, the emotional level such as traumatic events still held within the tissues.   In applying healing one is then able to pick up and address disrupted energy.  Consciousness moves between focusing on the energy and the interaction of the horse – her response to the energy:

Is she comfortably accepting, resisting or moving away

1. What area of the body are we focusing on at the time
2. Does the attitude and feedback displayed relate to history, current situation, behavioural issues?
3. Or is she releasing: yawning, chewing, stomach rumbling, falling asleep…
4. What areas of the body is the energy being drawn into where there is a level of disruption? 
5. What areas of soft tissue are unwinding and releasing
6. Where are there cold or hot spots, or electric buzzing?

All of these responses draw a picture of her wellbeing and give us clues to her ability or not to answer our requests, whether it be in communicating from the ground, riding on any level or just being with our horse.
