Poor Trigger - A Case of Ragwort Poisoning

Day 1 – 29 January 2007

  • Trigger was found in the bush paddock on Monday afternoon very, very sick with what was suspected as ragwort poisoning.
  • The vet was rung immediately and was told of the symptoms.  They agreed that it sounded like ragwort poisoning and there was nothing that could be done for him - the poisoning was too advanced!

Trigger Before Receiving Reiki

Day 2 – 30 January 2007

  • When I arrived Tuesday morning Trigger was standing in one spot, his head hanging down quivering, eyes sunken.  He had lost a lot of weight; his stomach was very tight right the way through his flanks.  His eyes and inside of his mouth had a yellow jaundice appearance.  I started Reiki treatment immediately and rescue remedy - two sprays morning and night.
  • Trigger put his head in my arms after his treatment as if to say thank you!

Day 3 – 31 January 2007

  • Trigger was standing in the same place as yesterday.  I walked him around to have a drink – he was wobbly on his legs, but with very stiff movements.  I gave Trigger more rescue drops and started working from his poll and forehead, poll and throat, down to breast and withers, moving along the back to the loins and croup, then the dock.  You could literally push him over with two fingers – he was not in a good way.
  • No one had seen Trigger pass any urine, so I paid particular attention to the kidney area finding an awful lot of heat there.
  • Continued with rescue remedy and prayers and waited to see if he would still be alive the next day.

Day 4 – 1 February 2007

  • Trigger was on his feet in the morning and had moved around a bit picking at the grass, a very good sign!  Although he still was not very steady on his feet we were all overjoyed that he was up and more alert, this gave me renewed inspiration.
  • I gave Trigger an energy balance, once again concentrating on the liver; kidney and lungs and working all round the intestine area.  Every couple of hours I lead Trigger around a little to get his circulation moving.  Trigger had a good drink today and passed a little urine, although he still had not passed any motions.

Day 5 – 2 February 2007

  • Trigger was doing great – he was much steadier on his legs and had started to move around eating – it wasn’t much but it was something.  He was more alert and had passed a motion – each piece looked as though it was wrapped in a yellow skin – I was thrilled!!
  • I lead Trigger out of the orchard and walked him around; he even got into a slight trot.  I continued with rescue remedy and a quick treatment (to the chakras).  Trigger passed urine, two more motions and was picking away at the grass when I left the farm that night.  I continued to send him absent healing every few days.

Follow Ups – February to May

  • Trigger got stronger and stronger.  I returned once a week to give Trigger a treatment and after five weeks he was cantering around his paddock.  Trigger was back serving mares in early April.  He looked good, had put on weight and was alert and happy.  We all thought he was going to be OK. (After Receiving Reiki)
Unfortunately he wasn’t!  I went to the farm one day in early May.  I brought Trigger into the yards to give him a brush and thought I’d do an energy balance on him.  Trigger wasn’t very accepting to a treatment, but I kept offering to see if he would change his mind.  He did eventually accept and when I got over the pancreas, spleen area it was very hot.  Trigger kept moving in towards me as if to say “yes I like that!”  He played with me for ages in the yards, chasing me around and trying to cut me off like a cutting horse could do to cattle.  I was happy all was going well.

Three days later
  • I got a phone call to say Trigger wasn’t good, he was standing with his head hanging down and appeared to be paralyzed.  Within two hours Trigger was dead!
  • An autopsy showed that an abscess had formed over his spleen area and had burst.  The poison had travelled through him very quickly.
