The Magic of Reiki with Valee More
Hock Trauma
A Case
Study
Lisa is a passionate student of equine Reiki
whose partner own's Woody a 12 year old Stationbred gelding.
Unfortunately, Woody is possessed of a degenerative joint condition
(arthritis) in his off hock which gradually became apparent over a 6
month period, although he was sound to ride. He eventually became so
mistrusting and sensitive due to the pain of flexing the hock joint
during shoeing that he would not let anyone groom or handle the
area, let alone allow the hoof to be picked up. Now some people
would say that he was being difficult to handle but Woody would be
telling a different story: "I don't trust you, you hurt me when you
pick up my leg and now I don't want you to touch that area at all"!
Session 1
So armed with
her new equine Reiki, Lisa uses Woody for one of her case studies.
Her intention is to assist the hock condition, to help destress
Woody and regenerate his trust and wellbeing. Now the beauty of
Reiki is that it can be performed anywhere and from a distance if
you like. Lisa conducts her first session with Woody loose in his
paddock. He accepts the Reiki from his head through his body to his
quarters and walks off not allowing her to go any further - I wonder
why!
Sessions 2-3
Lisa
brings him in for his second session and ties him up. He is happy to
accept the healing and the energy pours into the sacrum, the point
of hip and the stifle on the off side. He again moves away from
treatment to the off hock - Lisa decides to direct the energy to his
hock off his body instead. On the next session he accepts the energy
being directed to the off hock for about 5 minutes and to have it
handled briefly before moving away. Outside of these treatments he
is happy to have the hock handled but still not happy to have his
leg picked up - a big improvement.
Further Sessions
Lisa is now able to
groom Woody's off hock comfortably and on his fourth session she is
able to give Reiki directly over his hock for about 3 minutes before
he moves away. And Woody is getting increasingly happier having his
hock handled in between time. The fifth to seventh sessions are much
the same but are getting shorter - Woody enjoys the treatment
especially to the sacral area and again accepts a short healing to
his hock.
Between the eighth and ninth treatment he becomes
happier to have his leg lifted for picking out, although he could
not hold it up for too long, and on the eleventh session he accepts
six minutes of Reiki to his off hock. Arthritis is a long-term
condition and Woody is still receiving Reiki for his general health
and activity levels. He is now quite happy having his off hind
picked up for shoeing having had 1 day's retraining before hand.
Lisa says "he seems much more comfortable with his leg and once
again trusts his human companions". (Lisa is
available for treatments in the Kaukapakapa/Warkworth area, ph
09 422-5073.)
Simply put, the Reiki energy flows
through the chakras and meridian pathways to the practitioner's
hands (and feet), which is channelled to the recipient. It is the
recipient's own healing wisdom or intelligence that heals whether
it's for physical, mental or emotional healing. And the Reiki energy
accelerates the healing process right down to the cellular level. In
this case it helped to release memory and tissue trauma, and helped
to restore trust.
The above case study shows a normal flow of
improvement for this type of problem. I expect to see some
improvement from each session and depending on the horse and the
circumstances, treatments may be as few as 1 or 2 sessions.
Valee More offers free equine Reiki demonstrations to groups in
the Auckland area and regularly teaches and practices from Massey,
West Auckland .
